A War on Drugs or a War on Reason?
The Global War on Drugs is a long failed battle against logic. The United States alone squandered 15 Billion on the war on drugs in 2010 and over 1 trillion over the last 40 years. The United States has the highest incarceration rate in the world with about a half million presently incarcerated for drugs! The drug war violence south of the United States border is out of control, Mexico had 28,000 drug war related murders between 2006 and 2010 as Mexico's President Felipe Calderón accelerated his support for the War on Drugs. A recent 2011 report from the The Global Commission on Drug Policy declared the global war on drugs a costly failure! The commission was not populated with left wing liberals, but included former Republican Secretary of State George P. Shultz and former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul A. Volcker. The Obama administration responded to the report with more of the same war rhetoric of the last 40 years. It will take strong leadership to stand up to the special interests on both sides of the fence who profit from this continued policy, and implement a sane policy of harm reduction that will benefit all!

The Sun Erupts with a Large Solar Blast!!!
Sunspot 1158 unleashed a X2 Solar Flare on February 15, the coronal mass ejection should reach earth in the next 36-48 hours. This is just a preview for the solar activity about to arrive in 2012. According to NASA the 2012 peak of solar activity will be much stronger than initially expected. And it could be the strongest in over 100 years, threatening the technology infrastructure in space and on earth!

Is War in the Cards for 2011?
Over the past year North Korea and South Korea have come the closest to all out war since 1953. The unpredictable North is in a leadership transition that may have catastrophic consequences in 2011. 4069 miles away from Korea another potential conflict has been festering with Iran ever since George W. Bush gave his axis of evil speech in 2002. This potential conflict with Iran involves not only Israel but also some of its Sunni Muslim neighbors according to documents disclosed from WikiLeaks. Israel and the Palestinians are as far as ever from negotiating any sort of peace, and a new Gaza offensive may be coming soon. Hopefully none of these potential wars will emerge, since any one can lead to a state of darkness for the planet and people of the Earth that it has not seen in over 60 years!
Is the Federal Reserve Inflating an Emerging Market Bubble?
Ben Bernanke's QE2 or money printing strategy is being done in the hope of stimulating the American economy. But is the Federal Reserve’s easy money policies actually creating a bubble in emerging markets? In China interest rates have been raised twice in the last two months in an attempt to control inflation. China has empty ghost cities which are unoccupied because China has the population potential to use the housing, but the majority of Chinese citizens do not have the income to afford the housing. Only time will tell if the Federal Reserve strategy will save this absurd Wall Street influenced economic system, or set the World up for next crash!

Fools on the Hill or Prophets of Doom?
Nobel prize winner Paul Krugman wrote a June 27 editorial titled The Third Depression, he calls for more government stimulus in order to avoid a deflationary spiral. Billionaire George Soros agrees with professor Krugman that we are entering act II of the financial crises. Also market forecaster Robert Prechter sees the possibility of the biggest market crash in 300 years on our doorstep, in the New York Times article he is quoted as saying ‘Winter is coming. Buy a coat,’!
Mystery over China?
On Wednesday, July 7, 2010, over Zhejiang province in Eastern China the above object was sighted and closed Xiaoshan Airport to traffic. As of Friday, July 9 the sighting remains a mystery.

A Strange Tale from a Strange Land
A strange story from the Republic of Kalmykia which is located in the Russian Federation along the shores of the Caspian Sea. Kalmykia is the only nation in Europe of Mongolian origin, and the only one whose national religion is Buddhism. The president of Kalmykia who is Kirsan Nikolayevich Ilyumzhinov claims he was visited by space aliens in 1997. What makes this even stranger is that a Russian parliamentarian wants him investigated for possibly giving secret information about Russia to the aliens.

Are the Dogs of War preparing for the Apocalypse?
The middle east is very active lately with an assassination in Dubai to deployments of sophisticated military hardware by the United States in countries around Iran. And Iran is pushing Russia for delivery of sophisticated S300 missiles it ordered in 2007. Hopefully these activities do not lead the world into more human folly, that in the end only benefits those who sell the weapons!
Sovereign Debt - Who will bail out the world?
Countries such as Greece, Portugal, Italy and Spain all face a serious debt crises that could if left unchecked have worldwide implications. Also parts of the United States such as California and many other states have similar problems. It all comes down to the simple fact that the developed world has an economic system that borrows from tomorrow in order to live in excess today, while the rest of the world barely survives. And on top of that a handful of individuals prosper off everyone’s misery. There has to be a better way!

Atlantis Rising in a soon to be released Hendrix recording
Almost 40 years after Jimi Hendrix died recordings that were on the shelf have been mixed by Eddy Kramer and will be released on March 9, 2010. The title is Valleys of Neptune and a single of the title track will be released on February 2. A sample of the visionary lyrics from Valleys of Neptune – “We know there were worlds so much older ... And they shall rise, and tell us much more the truth of man --”!
Google takes on the Evil Empire
China one of the greatest places on earth with a history, culture and people which give’s any other part of this planet a run for its money, has one of the most tyrannical, suppressive governments on earth! Google has stood up to the evil giant in a big way after it was hacked. The Chinese government should heed the wisdom of their own great philosopher Lao-tzu: “When the government is too intrusive, people lose their spirit. Act for the people’s benefit. Trust them; leave them alone.”

The 60 Trillion Derivative Time Bomb
Recently PBS Frontline aired an episode about financial derivatives and the role they played in the recent worldwide financial crises. The program is named The Warning and is worth watching. But the big question is if anything has been learned from this crises? Journalist Matt Taibbi has a timely article and video in Rolling Stone documenting that the same bureaucrat’s that created the financial crises are now in charge of fixing it. The Wall Street Journal has an article by Randall Smith and Sarah Lynch on how Wall Street has successfully blocked any real reform in the derivative market. The clock is ticking and it is only a matter of time until the fuse is lit again on this 60 trillion economic tragedy.
Here Comes the Sun
The sun has started to become active after a long solar minimum. Sunspot activity has started with the first signs of Solar cycle 24 in December 2009. We will see what the sun has in store for us in 2010.
